Civic Chamber’s hotline helps Hotline return money for annulled trips to Egypt
Citizens of the Russian Federation have filed complaints about the Sunmar Tour company
People have begun to get their money back, thanks to the hotline launched to assist Russian tourists affected by cancellation of trips from Russia to Egypt.
Let’s recall that flights of Russian airlines to Egypt were suspended on 6 November until final determination of what caused the crash of the Russian airliner A321 at Sinai that left 224 people dead.
"We have sent the registered letters of complaint to Rospotrebnadzor with a request to check shady tour operators, so that compensations for a failure to provide tourists products purchased by them in a full measure would be paid back in strict accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation", Elena Sutormina, Chairwoman of the CCRF Commission on Public Diplomacy and Support of Russian Compatriots Abroad, said.
For example, citizens of the Russian Federation have filed complaints about the Sunmar Tour company.
Complainants have reported that the Sunmar Tour company has refused to provide them with full financial compensations for cancellation of tours to Egypt already already purchased by the complainants. The Civic Chamber sent an inquiry to Rospotrebnadzor initiating the inspection that made the tour operator to begin payment of compensations.
One of the applicants that got back money she paid for a cancelled tour to Egypt, delivered her gratitude to the Civic Chamber.
"Thanks to your assistance, we got back all the money we paid. Before that, representatives of the Sunmar tour operator avoided taking our calls, and on rare occasions that they did respond they failed to give any clear answer", she wrote.
The hotline for assistance to Russian tourists affected by cancellation of tours from Russia to Egypt was launched by the Civic Chamber on November 16. Russian tourists who think that their rights were violated in connection with cancellation of flights to Egypt may call the hotline. This also applies to the citizens of Russia, whose vacation in Egypt was interrupted, as well as those who previously purchased tickets to Egypt, but were derived of the chance to go there. Later, the hotline was broadened to assist tourists affected by cancellation of tours to Turkey.
By applying to the hotline citizens may receive the necessary legal and informational support.
