Iosif Diskin: «The main issue of inter-religious relations in Russia is the fight against quasi-islamic extremism»
Iosif Diskin told a member of the German Bundestag about the activities of the Civic Chamber
Member of the German Bundestag Frank Heinrich visited the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation on October 8. The German MP came to Russia to get reliable information on the state of interethnic and inter-religious relations in Russia to share this info with his German colleagues and voters.
During the visit, Frank Heinrich met with Chairman of the Civic Chamber Commission on Interethnic and Inter-Religious Relations Iosif Diskin.
Iosif Diskin informed the member of the German parliament about the main activities of the Commission on interethnic and Inter-Religious Relations. In particular, the member of the Civic Chamber told Frank Heinrich about significant achievements pertaining to adaptation of immigrants in Russia and solution of corresponding social problems.
«At the present time, interethnic relations in Russia have improved a lot and no longer pose a concern to its citizens", Mr. Diskin said talking to the German MP. In addition, the member of the Civic Chamber stressed that there are no big problems seen in the field of inter-religious relations in Russia.
"The main issue is the fight against quasi-islamic extremism", - said Iosif Diskin.
They both agreed on the need to intensify dialogue between Russia and Germany in a public diplomacy format and discussed a possibility of further cooperation.
