The time will come when Kiev will understand what real work with civil society is all about

    Author: Nataliya Kiryuhina, no comments

On September 28, 2020, Kiev announced the resumption of the activities of the Regional Council of Ukrainians in Crimea. This was done without notifying the community of Crimean Ukrainians.

The fact that this organization resumed its activities came as a surprise and although consisting of four people, it nevertheless decided to make a statement. According to all those present, the activities of the Regional Council of Ukrainians in Crimea are being resumed to protect the rights, freedoms and interests of Crimean Ukrainians, strengthen their national identity, develop the state language, Ukrainian culture, and the Ukrainian information space on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula.

I can state for sure: no one from the Ukrainian community in Crimea asked for help. What is more, they have done an excellent job solving the above tasks and many other ones! It is interesting to note that after 2014 the activities of the Ukrainian community increased considerably! As you know, the Ukrainian community in Crimea directed all its efforts to preserve Ukrainian culture in the Republic of Crimea. They have been engaged in popularizing the Ukrainian language and culture, as well as developing and publishing a newspaper in Ukrainian "Krimskiy Vestnik."

By the way, recently the Ukrainian community in Crimea sent a cultural and educational magazine in Ukrainian "Krim Segodnya" to the office of the President of Ukraine in order to suppress any speculation about the non-preservation or poor development of the Ukrainian language in Crimea. The first issue of the quarterly cultural and educational magazine in the Ukrainian language came out this June.

In addition, the first information portal in the Ukrainian language “Pereyaslavskaya Rada 2.0” is operating in Crimea. The portal is totally in Ukrainian and it is unique for Russia. We hope that the time will come when Kiev will understand what real work with civil society is all about – not an imitation of frenzied activities with Crimean civil society, conveniently ignoring that which they despise or carrying out manipulations and meaningless events just for the record or yet another grant.
